Dr Hiten Halai

Hiten graduated from Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2012 and completed his vocational training in West Sussex.

Following this, Hiten worked as a Senior House Officer in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal London Dental Hospital where he gained extensive experience in the management of complex multi-disciplinary cases and developed a strong interest in the field of Periodontics. During this time he also completed the membership exam for the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (MFDS RCSEd) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Dental Care with Distinction at the University of Kent.

Hiten then worked as a dental surgeon for a group of private practices in Singapore, whilst also travelling across South-East Asia and participating in oral health based volunteering projects.

In 2015, he returned to Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry to commence his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontology, which he completed in 2018. In the same year he also passed the Specialty Membership in Periodontics exam by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

During his training, Hiten has won a number of awards including the British Society of Periodontology (BSP) Audit Award, BSP Clinical Fellowship Award, Queen Mary Postgraduate Research Award and was highly commended for his clinical research through the John Zamet Research Award. Most recently, he has also completed an internship at the renowned Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Institute in Boston, USA.

Aside from private practice, Hiten is also a clinical lecturer for periodontics registrars at Queen Mary, University of London. As a research fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital, his key research interests include the diagnosis and management of gum disease in young children.
